A UK first edition, first impression. Though there is nothing to indicate this the case, this book comes from Christopher Fry's library and has a gift inscription ( from Roger ) to Fry's son Tam.
Wrapper : The wrapper on this copy is solid and complete. It is unclipped. The front panel is soiled at the edges and chipped at the upper corners. The spine panel is toned and shows loss at either end. There is splitting along the spine panel creases. The back panel, like the front, is soiled at the edges and chipped at the corners. Looks sharp in protective brodart.
Book : The book is tight and sound. The boards are lightly soiled at the edges. The corners are sharp. The spine is gently toned. The pages are clean. No foxing. The closed page edges are dulled. The binding is tight. No loose pages. There is a neat gift inscription ( Tam from Roger October 15,1939 ) on the ffep.
