Decorative red cloth, spine titles and decorative cover motif stamped in gilt. All Edges Gilt. A UK first edition. The book is square and very tight. The boards are bright, if a little dust soiled. The upper leading edge corners are gently bruised. The gilt on the front board is bright and bold. The spine is dulled. The spine ends are gently bruised. The pages are clean. No dog-eared pages. The binding is solid. There is a contemporary ( 1897 ) school prize bookplate on the front pastedown. A well preserved copy in a protected wrapper.
