Bramah, Ernest - Max Carrados
The 1924 fifth edition - first published in 1914. Unusual in wrapper.
Wrapper : The evocative wrapper on this copy is bright and complete showing the price 2/6 on the spine. It is unclipped. The front panel is bright. It is lightly soiled and shows light wear to the top edge from which there is running down a small closed tea. The spine is unfaded. It is scuffed and lightly nicked at either end. The white back panel is creased at the top and is lightly soiled. The reverse of the wrapper is stained. Shows much better than it sounds.
Book : The book is tight. The boards are sound - the back board is stained. The corners are sharp. There is a modicum of bruising at the head and tail of the spine. The pages are clean. The closed page edges are slightly dusty and show occasional spotting. No loose or dog-eared pages. The binding is tight - no cracked hinges. There are no ownership inscriptions.
