A UK first edition, first impression. Undated, but 1949 ( Hubin ).
WRAPPER : The evocative wrapper on this copy ( artwork by Sears ) is bright and complete. It is unclipped. The front panel is bright and unfaded, showing gentle wear to the top and bottom edges. The spine is unfaded and clean. It shows rubbing and scuffing at the head. The back panel is sound, if just a little soiled to the main body. Looks sharp in protective plastic.
BOOK : The book is square and very tight. The boards are very bright and very clean. The corners are sharp. The pages are clean. There is a trace of flecking to the endpapers. The closed page edges are sound - the top edge is insignificantly dusty. No dog-eared pages. The binding is solid - no cracked hinges. There are no previous ownership inscriptions. A nice copy in a protected wrapper.
