With illustrations by Charles Keeping. An INSCRIBED UK first edition, first impression. Loosely laid in is a two-page SIGNED type written translation of a ninth century fragment called The Ruin. Crossley-Holland has written at the head of the translation: ' commonly supposed to be a description of Bath.'
WRAPPER : The wrapper on this copy is bright, clean and complete. It is unclipped. The front panel is bright and unfaded, showing light wear to the edges. The spine is clean. It is slightly faded and it is rubbed and scuffed at the ends. The back panel is sound, showing gentle soiling at the edges. Looks sharp in protective plastic.
BOOK : The book is square and very tight. The boards are clean and bright. The upper leading edge corner on the front board is insignificantly bruised. The pages are clean. No foxing. The closed page edges are sound - they are very slightly dulled. No dog-eared pages. The binding is solid - no cracked hinges. There are no previous ownership inscriptions. Kevin Crossley Holland has written the following on the ffep : Caro's. With love, Kevin September 1965. A very nice copy in a protected wrapper.
