Evelyn Waugh's copy - INSCRIBED by the author 'To Evelyn Waugh, from the author - a very grateful admirer of his father. Oct 28th 1909.' Waugh would have been six years old at the time. The book is bound in the publisher's green cloth with a pictorial paper insert to cover. The spine is rather discoloured, with the lettering faded. The extremities are a little bumped. The pictorial insert has a scratch and another mark, but is generally smart. The rear board has a few ink stains and handling marks. The binding remains firm. The pages re generally clean - there is ghosting to the endpapers. The closed page edges are a tad dusty - the gilt edge has lost its lustre. A unique copy, INSCRIBED personally by the author to a young Evelyn Waugh.
