Gogol, Nikolay - Dead Souls

Two volumes. Original blue cloth, lettered in gilt to the spine. First edition of the Garnett translation. No wrappers. The books are sound and tight. The front and back boards are bright and unfaded, show inconsequential marking. The corners are sound. The spines are bright, the spine lettering on each volume is bold. The spines are very slightly bruised at the top and bottom. The pages are clean - there is ghosting and light spotting to the endpapers. The closed page edges are a little dulled but otherwise bright. The bindings are tight with no loose pages. There are no previous ownership inscriptions. A nice set.
