We previously bought and/or sold this book in the following, or similar, condition:

A UK first edition thus - undated but from the early 1930's. With tipped-in coloured frontispiece and 15 tipped-in coloured plates on captioned leaves. Also 86 monochrome illustrations (37 full-page) in the text. Unusual in wrapper.

Wrapper: The wrapper on this copy is bright, unfaded and complete. It is unclipped. The front panel is bright and unfaded, showing rubbing and bruising to the top and bottom edges. The spine very gently faded and shows rubbing and scuffing to the ends. The back panel is bright, showing bruising to the top edge and a small chip out of the bottom leading edge corner. Looks sharp in protective plastic.

Book: The book is square and very tight. The boards are very bright and very clean. The corners are sharp. The spine ends are gently bruised. The pages are clean. No foxing. The closed page edges are sound, if slightly dusty and slightly dulled. No dog-eared pages. The binding is solid - no cracked hinges. There are no previous ownership inscriptions. A nice copy in a protected wrapper.
