A SIGNED UK first edition, first impression.
Wrapper : The period wrapper on this copy is very bright, very clean and is complete. It is unclipped. It shows the price 7/6 on the spine. The front panel is bright and unfaded, showing light wear to the top and bottom edges. The spine is very clean and is unfaded. It shows insignificant rubbing to the spine ends. The back panel is fresh and clean, showing superficial bruising to the top and bottom edges. Looks very sharp in protective plastic.
Book : The book is square and very tight. The boards are clean. The corners are sharp. The spine ends are gently bruised. The pages are clean. the endpapers and opening few pages are spotted. The closed page edges are gently toned and show occasional spotting. There are no loose or dog-eared pages. The binding is solid and without cracked hinges. There are no previous ownership inscriptions. This copy has been SIGNED and inscribed by the author. The inscription reads : For Alice and Bill Wood with the compliments of Gavin Holt and most gratefully and affectionately from Charles Rodda. ( Gavin Holt was Charles Rodda's pseudonym ) An attractive copy in a protected wrapper.
