Hope, Colin - The Mystery at Crowstone
Undated, but the first edition is 1936 ( Hubin ). Blue boards, 3/6 on the spine. Whilst THE MYSTERY at Crowstone is given among the Sundial Mystery titles listed on the back cover, none of the other titles is later than 1936. Hence, a probable first edition.
Wrapper : The evocative period wrapper on this copy is bright, unfaded and complete. It is unclipped. The front panel is bright, showing light rubbing and minor surface creases at the edges. The spine is soiled. The head of the spine is bruised and creased. The back panel is sound, showing gentle overall soiling and a touch of wear at the spine corners. Looks very sharp.
Book : The book is square and very tight. There are no previous ownership inscriptions. The boards are clean, the corners sharp. It shows bruising at the head of the spine. The pages are clean. The closed page edges are sound - they are slightly dusty. No dog-eared pages. The binding is tight - no cracked hinges. A nice copy in a protected wrapper.
