Two volumes in the original slipcase. First and second printings before publication stated on the copyright page - so presumably this is a third printing ( ? ). Original black cloth, gilt lettering and decoration to spine. Sold by the St Joseph's Seminary's Archbishop Corrigann memorial library in Yonkers, New York. These books have a library stamp on the copyright page of volume one and at the rear of both volumes. There are address stamps on the endpapers of both volumes and pockets attached to the rear pastedowns of each book. Now, here's the thing... neither of these books were ever taken out of the library. As a result, both books are in very close to fine condition. No fading, foxing, bumping, spotting. Tight binding, clean pages, clean closed page edges. There is a trace of gentle bruising to the spine ends. The lettering on the spine is bright and bold. There is a smalll discreet previous owner's bookplate on the front pastedown. Volume One has been FLAT SIGNED by Thomas Mann to the the ffep. Well preserved, sharp copies. The Slipcase : The slipcase is complete and intact. It is slightly soiled and gently toned at the edges. The edges and corners are - inevitably - rubbed and scuffed. Looks solid enough. Please note that this is a heavy item and postage will be a little more than standard.
