A UK first edition - first state (Currey's binding A). Original blue cloth titled in gilt. 16 full page illustrations by A.C. Michael - all present. No wrapper. The book is square and tight. The boards are clean. The corners are sharp. The spine is dulled, the spine lettering remains bright. The spine ends are lightly bruised. The pages are clean - the opening 8 pages or so are foxed as are the last few pages. The closed page edges are tanned and slightly dusty. The endpapers show ghosting. The binding is solid. There are no previous ownership inscriptions. A nice copy in a protected wrapper.
